Stephanie joined Mason Bennett Johncox Professional Corporation as an associate in July 2017 after completing her articles at the firm. Stephanie practices in the areas of Civil Litigation and Employment Law.

Stephanie holds an honours B.A. from Queen’s University in Political Science with a minor in International Development, graduating with distinction. She received her J.D. from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in 2016 where she received the Schulich Scholarship in Law and the McIntosh Award for excellence in the area of public affairs. She was called to the Ontario Bar in June 2017. 

Stephanie has worked as an intern at Human Rights Watch on a variety of international legal matters and spent several summers working at the Queen’s Park Legislature in Toronto. 

While at law school, Stephanie completed a term as a Student Case Manager at the Dalhousie Legal Aid Clinic. She received a top evaluation of honours for working with staff lawyers on a variety of client files, regularly appearing in court. Stephanie was also involved in several extra-curricular activities during her time at Dalhousie University. She was a founding member of the Alumni Relations Committee, developing a mentorship program between Dalhousie alumni and law students. Stephanie was also an executive member of the Law Hour Speakers Series, organizing speaking engagements with influential members of the legal community, including the Honorable Justice Abella of the Supreme Court of Canada. 

Prior to law school, Stephanie was a research assistant in the Queen’s University Centre for Studies on Democracy and Diversity. In this position, Stephanie researched the development of women’s rights and gender equality in Canada. She received the Queen’s University Principal’s Scholarship for academic excellence. Stephanie also participated in an international exchange program, studying Political Science and Economics in Belfast, Northern Ireland. 

Growing up in the Durham Region, Stephanie was an avid dancer, competing and performing throughout Canada and the United States. In university, Stephanie was “head dancer” of the Queen’s Bands Highland Dancers, a dance instructor for Queen’s Dance Club, and a performer in the annual Vogue Charity Fashion Show. In her spare time, Stephanie continues to teach dance to children of all ages.

Stephanie is a member of the Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade, the Durham Region Law Association, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Ontario Bar Association. She looks forward to building a successful law practice and getting further involved in the community of the Durham Region.
